Dear Youngstown Community School Friends and Family,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. This year begins with many changes to our normal routine but allows us an opportunity to shine in who we really are as a family. With proper precautions in place, our students are back in the classrooms receiving the quality instruction they deserve. The caring staff understands the importance of this unprecedented time and meets our students at their needs: socially, emotionally and academically.
The Youngstown Community School is one of the finest schools in our area, with a rich history and tradition of excellence that we continue to strengthen and expand. Our school is known for its incredible staff with their commitment to excellence. To those new to our school community, we are looking forward to your contributions to our students and team. We are so fortunate to have a school for which we can be proud of, with students, staff, families and the community coming together to support our mission and to inspire excellence. We will move forward together to begin another chapter in the history of our school, with an eye on building on our successes of the past. We will continue to focus on several priority areas to help us focus our work in making our school a premier school in the Mahoning Valley.
Priority 1: High Academic Standards - All students will have access to a challenging and rigorous instructional program that is aligned to Common Core Standards and embeds 21 st century skill demands.
Priority 2: Safe School Climate - The school will support and sustain a safe, nurturing, respectful environment where staff and students are supported to bring out the best in each other.
Priority 3: Fiscal Awareness - The school will provide an educationally sound and fiscally responsible budget that supports students in achieving our mission and is reflective of the community’s support for our school.
Priority 4: Community Involvement - The Youngstown Community School will engage the community in meaningful ways so as to foster support of programs and services.
Schools are a reflection of a community and in the Youngstown Community School, the success of our students comes as a result of the unwavering support of our parents, students, staff and community.
